Adapters

Attachments don’t have to come from your rack’s maker. Of the 1,118 rack and attachment pairs we list as fitting, 865 cross brands. Where the numbers don’t quite match, an adapter sometimes closes the gap, and sometimes nothing will.

Pin converters

Some attachments ship with both a 5/8" and a 1" pin, or a sleeve that converts one to the other, so the same part works on Monster Lite style and Monster style holes. We count whichever pin seats in your rack. These ship that way:

The converter only deals with the pin. The bracket still has to match your upright size, so order the 2×2, 2×3 or 3×3 version that matches your rack.

Adapters a maker includes

Sometimes the maker supplies an adapter for a particular rack. These are the pairs we know of:

What an adapter can’t fix

  • Wrong upright size. A J-cup or spotter arm made for 2×3 won’t sit right on a 3×3, and packing out the gap puts the load somewhere it wasn’t designed for. We mark these “Doesn’t fit” (see upright sizes).
  • A small pin in a big hole. A 5/8" pin in a 1" hole rattles and loads the pin’s edge. Unless the attachment ships with a 1" pin or sleeve from its maker, we don’t count it.
  • Two-pin spacing. Nothing adapts the distance between holes. Metric and imperial spacing can be close enough or not (see hole size and spacing).

Third-party pin reducers and upright sleeves exist, but we haven’t seen one tested on a loaded rack, so we don’t list fits that depend on one. If you use one and it works, tell us.
